Mrs. Hugh Wilson Dies at hospital Here at Age 82

Mrs. Minnie Elizabeth Wilson, widow of Hugh Wilson, died at the Sutherland Hospital, next door to her home, Friday, September 2, at 3 a.m. She was aged 82 years, 7 months and 20 days. She became ill only four days before her death.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Walker Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. C. W. Armentrout, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Interment was at Union cemetery.

The deceased was born January 12, 1867, south of Sparta, and was the last of the children born to the late John and Alvira Ann Baird, nee Brown, prominent residents of this community for many years.

Mrs. Wilson was twice married. The first marriage was to Montieth M. Shields of New Castle, PA., on September 29, 1887, who died on April 22, 1895. The second marriage was to Hugh Wilson of Sparta, on November 25, 1903, who died in 1932.

No children were born to this union but Mrs. Wilson reared two girls. They are Mrs. Walter Blake of Washington, and Mrs. Edward Reynolds of Belleville. Her only relative in Sparta is a niece, Mrs. Harry Bell.

Mrs. Wilson spent all her life in Sparta and vicinity except for a few years of her married life spent in Pennsylvania.
