The Last Will and Testament of Lemuel Barker, Box 15

I Lemuel Barker of the County of Randolph and State of Illinois do hereby make and declare this my last will and testament, in manner and form following to wit:

First, It is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid.

Second, I bequeath, give and devise unto my Son, Walter, my daughters Savannah Caples, Harriet C. Marshall, and Narcissa Leavitt (all formerly “Barker”) all my Estate, Real, Personal and Mixed, of whatsoever kind and description; having already given to my other Children, viz: Hugh H. Barker, Clarissa Slater and Fayette Barker, their full share heretofore, of my Estate.

And lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint Alexander Hood, of the City of Chester, County of Randolph and State of Illinois, Executor of this my last Will and Testament, revoking and annulling all former wills made by me, and notifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament.

In witness whereof, I, the said Lemuel Barker have hereunto set my hand and seal this Fifteenth day of February, in the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy.

A note found with the will

Know all men by these present that I Lemuel Barker of County Randolph State Illinois do this day give to my wife Harriett Barker the following property to have and hold as her own.  One thirty hour clock now in her house, one bay mare 16 years old now on her place, also the rents on the place known as the Kirkendall place the remainder of her the said Harriett Barker’s life time.
